Crack a joke – Estar de guasa, responder de forma sarcástica ‘To crack a joke’ is not the same as ‘to tell a joke’. When you tell a joke, you are almost giving a mini-performance. Somebody who cracks jokes is a person who has ‘funny’ answers or comments. This practice is often seen as annoying, especially when it is constant or at inappropriate times.

Stop cracking jokes for a minute.

 

Melanie is always cracking jokes.

Now it not the time to crack jokes.

Deja de hacer el payaso un momento.

Melanie siempre esta de guasa.
