UNA PROPUESTA CULTURAL PARA MEJORAR TU COMPRENSIÓN Y TU OÍDO
Is the quality of an artist in the complex or the simple? In the case of the Lumineers, critics say their success comes from focusing on the simplicity. Their most popular song “Ho Hey” is a perfect example of their infectious folk style. Once you hear it, tell me if you don’t feel an appreciation for the simple way it transports you.
The Lumineers’ self-titled debut album was released in April, 2012 and reached Platinum status in December of 2013 in the U.S. and Ireland, with Gold certifications in the UK, Australia and Canada. The song “Ho Hey” first became popular when it was used on the American comedy-drama T.V. show called Hart of Dixie. It later became the highest ranked song, under an independent label, in history on the US Top 40 Charts.
This Denver-based band has its origins on the east coast. The two primary band members, Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites were originally from New Jersey and started performing in New York. They later decided to move their band to Colorado, which they now call home.
What makes their style unique is the simple folk-pop nature to it, but with a sentimental feel. It also appears to have a special aspect to it that has worked well for the T.V. and movie screen. Fraites says, “We’re not reinventing the wheel or doing anything that different, the songs are super simple. The ideas themselves are very simple ideas. Anyone who can play an instrument can play a Lumineers song. I think there’s a certain cinematic aspect of our music that I really like.”
So, if you want some music to take you somewhere, listen to the Lumineers and let their simplicity illuminate your imagination.
