New York the Big Apple. The city that all foreigners dream of visiting. The place where dreams are made. New York City, the largest city in the United States, is home to more than 500 spoken languages and a wide array of international cuisine. We can’t forget about 5th Avenue and all the major fashion brands and designers housed there.
The city itself originally started as five distinct boroughs (or neighborhoods):Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Unified, the population is approximately 8,500,000.
Speaking of populations, did you know that…
1.The Jewish population in NYC is the largest in the world outside of Israel?
2.New York City has the largest Chinese population of any city outside of Asia?
And…that the Empire State Building has its own zipcode?
Neither did I!
The very international city is actually surprisingly one of the cleanest too, believe it or not. It has been working on reducing its carbon footprint and features an intricate public transportation system that eliminates the necessity to own your own vehicle. Many Fortune 500 companies also have headquarters here, as the city is a great place for companies and investment.
With its diversity and variety, New York City is definitely worth a visit (or five, as there is so much to see!). Prepare to be in awe as you walk through the city filled with skyscrapers, art, fashion and more.
