New York, J.J. Abrams.

J.J. Abrams, formally known as Jeffrey Jacob Abrams, was born in New York City on June 27th, 1966. A jack-of-all-trades, he is known for his work as a composer, film and television producer, director, actor, and screenwriter. He enjoys working in genres like science fiction, action and drama.

Production and writing runs in his Jewish family; his father, Gerald W. Abrams, is a television producer, and his mother (Carol Ann Abrams) is an executive producer. His sister, Tracy Rosen, is also a screenwriter.

As a composer, he is known for what he did for the opening theme songs for Lost, Alias, and Felicity, all very popular television series from the United States. He wrote and directed the film Super 8, as well as a few Star Trek films (one of which is to be released in 2015). He has also acted along with Will Farrell in the short film “Cool Guys Don’t Look at Explosions.”

Here’s a fun fact: he actually started working at 16, composing music for the movie Nightbeast. He showed a lot of talent from a very young age, and has had the privilege of working with high-profile actors, directors, screenwriters, and producers, such as Steven Spielberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, Danny Glover, and Tom Cruise.
