Classical Chinese Garden (Vancouver)

Built in the Chinatown district of Vancouver, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is the first Chinese garden that was constructed and planned outside of China itself! As Vancouver is known for its heavy rainfall, this is a popular tourist destination that can easily be enjoyed with an umbrella in hand.

The Canadian and Chinese governments collaborated on the garden project in 1985. The garden was officially completed in 1986.

A surprising fact about the garden is that the climate is very similar to that of another region in China, Suzhou, and all the plants used for the project were carefully selected based on blooming times to signal the changing of the seasons.
