Born May 14th, 1969, in Melbourne, Australia, Cate Blanchett has become one of the most successful and praised actresses on screen and stage. Her list of awards won is quite long, including (but not limited to): three Golden Globes, three SAG awards, and two Academy Awards.
She is best known for her role in the film Elizabeth (1998) as the Queen herself, as well as her portrayal of Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings films. She recently was featured in the newer The Hobbit films, playing the role once again in both a cameo and starring status. However, she has received much praise recently for her part in the film Blue Jasmine (2013), winning her an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Besides her acting career, the Aussie native is a wife and mother of three boys.
