Como usar en inglés “Would rather”

Would rather es una expresión que indica que se tienen dos o más opciones y se prefiere una de ellas.

Se forma:

Afirmativo:

Sujeto + would rather + infinitivo ( sin to ) – I’d rather go by train. Negativo: Sujeto + would rather + not (sin contraer) + infinitivo (sin to)

I would rather not go by train.

Interrogativo:

Would + sujeto + rather + infinitivo (sin to) – Would you rather walk?Would rather se puede sustituir por would prefer to + infinitivo. I’d prefer to walk.He’d prefer not to go by bus.Would you prefer to go by train? En el pasado, la estructura es: Sujeto + would rather + have + past participle.

 

I would rather have walked. – Preferiría haber andado.
